Alresford Golf Club
Alresford Golf Club - Description
Alresford Golf Club, designed by Scott Webb, has an interesting history much like many other golf courses. The course started out as a 9-hole when it was formed in 1890, but was extended to an 18-hole in 1912. Not long after that, when the First World War started, part of the course was pulled up and ploughed for agricultural use and so became a 9-hole course for the second time. In 1953 due to financial difficulties the course moved an old railway carriage onto the land and constructed their own clubhouse for it, in order to make more profits than they were from hiring a cricket clubhouse previously. Then, in 1993 the course was partially rebuilt and upgraded back to an 18-hole course which is just about where it is today. Throughout its time the course has played a big part in the golfing industry and is perfectly built for year round play with tricky par 3 holes and even a few good par 5 holes. Overall it?s a par 69 course.
